a big idea that interests me is revival. i love the idea of altering something that already exists and turning it into something beautiful. I've been really interested in working with book pages lately and turning them into a work of art that ties in with the words on the pages. here are a few images of pieces i've found on the internet.

week 3/4 "being an adolescent"

I think that being an adolescent in todays society can be extremely tough. The things kids go through these days are tremendous. The world always expects so much of them that a heavy burden is put on them wether they like it or not. Kids these days are exposed to so many terrible things in the world that only makes things harder on them. Adolescents need a strong standing force in their lives and I think teachers should definitely be one of them. You can't always know what a student has been though or is going through and it is our job as teachers to be there for them no matter when or what.

week 1/2

I think that teaching art is an amazing ability to have. I think that it is extremely important that we not only know how to do art but that we can teach it as well. There are so many amazing artists out there that just aren't that good at teaching. Those artists are usually the ones that didn't get their degrees in education, but just in art. I think we have an amazing opportunity to change the worlds view on art and how important it is to the world. Most students view art as a release, and a release that is extremely necessary. I think that if we as art teachers can get our students to respect the arts more we could help produce some amazing artists who never knew they had it in them. I think that is just an amazing ability to have. I remember the teachers that did that for me and I would love to do that for someone else. :)
